I used to have really low self esteem. I never really talked about this. Mostly because I was too embarrassed to admit it, even to myself. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ But through most of my teenage years and well into my 20s I couldn’t see myself. Not really, not in ways that really mattered. So I looked to others to provide “clarity” for me. I saw myself in what they wanted from me. I found my value in being liked and desired. And to me the best way to be liked and desired was to make others feel liked and desired. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ And you know what? I was really good at it. I made them feel seen for who they thought they were and/or who they wanted to be. I loved knowing how they would respond. I loved the sense of power it gave me. I loved being liked and desired in return. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ But it wasn’t real. It didn’t come from a genuine place. In reality I was so scared that I would never really live up to all that I could be so I settled on being what I thought others wanted from me. I settled on being a distortion of my true self. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ But what I want to focus on is this… ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ I already was who I wanted to be. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ I know that sounds crazy but stay with me. The whole time I was pretending to be what other people wanted I was just creating more frustration for myself because I wasn’t giving myself the space and time to grow into the fullness of who I get to be. I was so focused on my “flaws” that I couldn’t see they were really just opportunities for me to get to know and trust myself more. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ And like me, I’m sure you have your own stories of frustration, of anger, of bitterness, of disappointment. But the reason we walk around with these feelings searching for clarity and how to be better is because we’ve learned to be someone we’re not. We’ve internalized that being like something or someone else is better than who we are. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Continued In Comments...

I’ve said it before & I’ll say it again, our purpose isn’t about us. It’s showing up in our gifts to benefit others. We have the power to set what we will and won’t accept. Our power is in being aligned with who God called us to be. ⁣ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ 𝐈𝐧𝐭𝐞𝐠𝐫𝐢𝐭𝐲: Our alignment means nothing if we aren’t also in integrity. Alignment = using our gifts, Integrity = living our morals in the use of our gifts. Our alignment is enriched by our integrity.⁣ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ 𝐆𝐞𝐧𝐞𝐫𝐨𝐬𝐢𝐭𝐲: The strength of our integrity is seen in our treatment of others. To intentionally help someone we have to see who they can be. But to invite them into that we have to believe in the most generous interpretation of their current expression… they are doing their best. Our integrity allows us meet them where they are to share our gifts with them. Our integrity is holding space for the vision we are calling into existence. ⁣ ⁣ This is your invitation into the more God has for us. I see you. You're purpose-minded. And I know how it feels to long to please the Lord and not know what that looks like in your current season of life. I've been there. I've had many positions, therapist, teacher, strategist, coach. And through them all I wondered if I was doing what God called me to do. Was the work I was doing making a difference? Was it a part of my calling? ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ What I know now that I didn't know then was God was taking every experience and weaving it together to prepare me for the season I'm in now. I used to have really low self esteem. I never really talked about this. Mostly because I was too embarrassed to admit it, even to myself. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ But through most of my teenage years and well into my 20s I couldn’t see myself. Not really, not in ways that really mattered. So I looked to others to provide “clarity” for me. I saw myself in what they wanted from me. I found my value in being liked and desired. And to me the best way to be liked and desired was to make others feel liked and desired. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ And you know what? I was really good at it. I made them feel seen for who they thought they were and/or who they wanted to be. I loved knowing how they would respond. I loved the sense of power it gave me. I loved being liked and desired in return. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ But it wasn’t real. It didn’t come from a genuine place. In reality I was so scared that I would never really live up to all that I could be so I settled on being what I thought others wanted from me. I settled on being a distortion of my true self. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ But what I want to focus on is this… ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ I already was who I wanted to be. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ I know that sounds crazy but stay with me. The whole time I was pretending to be what other people wanted I was just creating more frustration for myself because I wasn’t giving myself the space and time to grow into the fullness of who I get to be. I was so focused on my “flaws” that I couldn’t see they were really just opportunities for me to get to know and trust myself more. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ And like me, I’m sure you have your own stories of frustration, of anger, of bitterness, of disappointment. But the reason we walk around with these feelings searching for clarity and how to be better is because we’ve learned to be someone we’re not. I’ve said it before & I’ll say it again, our purpose isn’t about us. It’s showing up in our gifts to benefit others. I see you. You're purpose-minded. And I know how it feels to long to please the Lord and not know what that looks like in your current season of life. I've been there. I've had many positions, therapist, teacher, strategist, coach. And through them all I wondered if I was doing what God called me to do. Was the work I was doing making a difference? Was it a part of my calling? ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ What I know now that I didn't know then was God was taking every experience and weaving it together to prepare me for the season I'm in now. It was all a part of His plan. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ For I know the plans and thoughts that I have for you,’ says the LORD, ‘plans for peace and well-being and not for disaster, to give you a future and a hope. ‭‭Jeremiah‬ ‭29:11‬ ‭AMP‬‬ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ So if you're struggling to find purpose in your current circumstance know: ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ God is preparing you for the more that you desire. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Tag a friend who needs to hear this. You're worried... You're worried because you've unknowingly committed to the narrative that God hasn't shown you your purpose yet. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ How do I know? Because by far the most common question I hear from clients and believers is "How do I know what God has called me to do?" ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ So I'll tell you what I tell them... ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ You're already in purpose and God is simply trying to prepare you for your next evolution.
